FAQ

What is the therapy process like?

Therapy is an individualized process that is different for everyone, depending upon the client’s needs and preferences. Typically,  I will start off by meeting with clients once per week, usually at the same day and time each week, until the client starts to feel like their symptoms are improving. At this point, biweekly or monthly sessions can be discussed. If symptoms resolve, ending therapy will be discussed. This whole process ranges from person to person— some individuals may be ready to end therapy in a few months, while others may not be ready until a few years.

During the therapy process, we will discuss your presenting needs and goals for treatment, and will complete a treatment plan, which will allow us concrete goals to work toward in your therapy— ultimately, you feeling better.

What is your therapy style like?
My therapy style often involves talk therapy with a goal-directed fashion, which includes CBT and DBT skill learning.  Many clients may find my therapy as gently structured to ensure we are working toward the goals on your treatment plan, while allowing the client a safe space to work through their thoughts and emotions at their own pace.  Clients find that I suggest skills to try in between sessions so that they can ultimately start feeling better faster. In a nutshell, my approach is gentle, non-judgmental, structured, and goal-oriented.  For those seeking treatment for OCD, I offer structured treatments including Exposure & Response Prevention and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Do you accept insurance? Do you accept private pay?
I do accept insurance, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare,Tufts, Optum plans, and Harvard Pilgrim. Private pay is available for those who do not have insurance or are not members of any of the above insurance panels. My private pay rate is currently $200 for an intake session, $150 for a 45 minute session, $160 for a 60 minute session, and $100 for a 30-minute session.  Out of Network billing is also available,  if you are not a member of the insurances I accept and would like to get reimbursed by your insurance company for a good portion of the private pay rate. You can check with your insurance company regarding whether they offer Out of Network benefits, as well as what percentage they reimburse.  If you decide to not use insurance benefits, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of your service cost prior to your first appointment. Visit the Good Faith Estimate link below, at the bottom of this page, for more information.

What frameworks of treatment do you use?
I am trained in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). CBT is usually an ideal treatment for symptoms including anxiety and depression, as it targets the thought processes that lie behind the emotion. DBT is usually more action-oriented, as it helps to manage strong negative emotions and problems within relationships.

What is your background?
I graduated from Assumption University, where I completed the majority of my program credits in CBT-focused classes. I also obtained my concentration in Child & Family Interventions. During and after my time at Assumption University, I worked alongside clinical researchers at both Assumption University and Boston University in mental health-related research efforts. Such research were presented in various locations  around the world, with some research as contenders for publication.

I completed my internship in an outpatient mental health therapy setting working with kids, teens, and families. My post-graduate work involved working at Spectrum Health Systems at an inpatient substance use disorder facility for adults of all ages, as well as DYS facility for youth & young adult offenders. I also have worked as a clinician for an affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, where I provided outpatient therapy services to children, teens, and young adults. In my private practice, I work with clients of all ages, often including young and middle age adults.
